2024 Summer Workshops

Martha Rhodes Advanced Poetry Workshop July 24 to July 29, 2016 Tuition: $600 Workshop: 9AM-Noon Discipline: Poetry ADVANCED On-site Housing Available

THIS WORKSHOP IS FULL

This workshop welcomes writers who seek the challenge that an advanced workshop can bring in terms of discussion about their poems through the focus of craft. We will look at the decisions each poet has made in terms of managing the content of their poems: structure, diction, syntax, tone and overall strategy. We will also look at handouts throughout the week. This will be both a revision workshop and generative. Exercises will be given on a daily basis. There will be some writing in class as well, and we will look at both “traditional” ways of revising poems as well as exhilarating “radical” approaches.
