2024 Summer Workshops

Bert Yarborough Chasing the Ghost and Developing Imagery Through Monotype August 14 to August 19, 2016 Tuition: $600 Workshop: 9AM-Noon Discipline: Printmaking OPEN TO ALL On-site Housing Available

The directness and immediacy of monotype printing is an excellent vehicle for artists desiring to expand the possibilities of image making. Using the “ghost”, the latent image that remains on the plate after initial printing, provides you with the architecture for further creative development. The basic techniques of monotype printing will be demonstrated and processes such as trace monotype, chine colle, collage and the use of stencils will be introduced in order to facilitate experimentation. A portion of the workshop will also allow participants to work from the figure. Emphasis will be on process, change and the development of each student’s unique visual language.
