Carl Phillips Making Poems from Poetry August 12 to August 17, 2018 Tuition: $600 Workshop: 9am-Noon Discipline: Poetry OPEN TO ALL On-site Housing Available

In this workshop, we will look at strategies used in poems provided by the instructor, and we will use those strategies both as devices for generating new work and as lenses through which to re-see and revise work that has stalled. You should except to have produced at least threee poems or short drafts for them, by week’s end.

Please bring with you two examples of poems (of your own) that you have not been able to finish or get quite right.

Biography

Carl Phillips is the author of 14 books for poetry, most recently Wild is the Wind. His chapbook, Star Map with Action Figures, will be out Fall 2019, to be followed by a full-length volume, Pale Colors in a Tall Field in 2020. Recent honors include the LA Times Book Award for Poetry and the Aiken Taylor Award for Modern American Poetry. Phillips teaches at Washington University in St. Louis.
