Fine Arts Work Center In Provincetown

Returning Residency Fall 2021

Registration is Open! If you are a Fellow, Collaborative Resident, Summer Program Faculty or Student, or MassArt/FAWC MFA Alumni, you may register here

We’re pleased to invite our Fellows, Collaborative Residents, Summer Program Faculty and Students, and Alumni of the MassArt/FAWC MFA to participate in the Fine Arts Work Center’s Returning Residency Program. The program is a great opportunity to escape energy-sapping routines, recharge creative batteries, and live and work surrounded by other artists and writers.

FALL 2021
Week 1 – August 30 – September 5
Week 2 – September 6 – September 12

During these weeks, Work Center apartments are available for rent at a reduced weekly rate (please note partial week rentals are not available). Apartments are lovely and rustic. They include a double bed, private bathroom and kitchen complete with cooking and eating utensils. Residents must supply their own linens and toiletries. Wireless internet is available. Apartments do not have phones, televisions, or air conditioners (fans are provided). Visual arts studios are also available for an additional cost. No pets are allowed and smoking is prohibited inside all FAWC buildings, including apartments. If you book different apartments for the first and second week, you will need to find your own accommodation for the evening of Sunday, September 5.

NO ONSITE PARKING
The Work Center has two on-site accessible parking spots available for residents with a state-issued disability placard. If you have a state-issued disability placard and require on-site accessible parking spot, please let us know. Otherwise, on-site parking is not available during the Residency. You may park on-site to unload and reload and will then need to secure off-site parking.

The City of Provincetown recommends purchasing a Visitor Limited Permit for $175. This is valid May 1 – October 30 and allows parking at metered spots and parking lots (other than MacMillan Pier).

There are week-long permits available for purchase for $75 for the Jerome Smith lot ONLY, but purchasing this permit DOES NOT guarantee a spot, as they are first-come first-serve. Otherwise lots are available at daily rates of $25 or $35.

Please visit  Permit Types to purchase a permit.

Please visit Provincetown Parking for comprehensive information about off-site parking options.

OVERNIGHT GUESTS
No overnight guests allowed on FAWC property, including in your apartment or studio, except for one household member who may accompany you to the Residency. We have limited household options available. Please reach out to ssiegel@fawc.org with questions.

VISITORS
1 – 2 day visitors are allowed during your Residency stay.

SMOKING AND PETS
Smoking is not permitted anywhere on the Work Center property, indoors or outdoors, or on the adjoining residential streets, Pearl Street and Fishburn Court. With the exception of licensed service animals (as defined by the ADA), pets are not permitted at the Work Center. Note: If you plan on bringing your licensed service animal, you will be asked to provide a copy of your service animal’s registration papers.

FINE ARTS WORK CENTER RENOVATIONS
We are excited to announce renovations have begun on the Kunitz Common Room and courtyard, which includes the addition of a bookshop and gallery as part of the Common Room and the addition of decking to the courtyard. As a result, there may be some general construction noise during work hours: Monday-Friday 7:30am-4:00pm. Our elevator is currently under construction.

PLEASE NOTE
We cannot accommodate requests for a specific visual arts studio.
Residents must bring their own sheets (size double), towels, and toiletries.
Check-in is on Monday between 4-6pm and check-out is on Sunday by 9am. (If you book different apartments for the first and second week, you will need to find your own accommodation for Sunday, September 5).
We are unable to accommodate early arrivals or late departures.
Residents are expected to check out on time and leave the apartment clean.
