2024 Summer Workshops

Martha Rhodes Revising & Generating: A Poetry Workshop July 29 to August 3, 2018 Tuition: $600 Workshop: 9am-Noon Discipline: Poetry OPEN TO ALL On-site Housing Available

We often think of revising as a separate act from generating a poem. This workshop will focus on how revision can be an act of generating new, vibrant work. We’ll look at poems that participants bring in with an eye to “conventional” revision as well as a more radical approach and we’ll also look at new work during the week. I’ll offer prompts and exercises to be done in class and during the evenings. This workshop is geared toward writers who want to learn to move around in their poems– who are truly willing to look not only at where the poem is going, but where it might go.
