2023 Summer Workshops

Beowulf Sheehan Seeing You: Storytelling, Storyteller & Photographic Portraiture August 9 to August 14, 2020 Tuition: $650 Workshop: 9am-12pm Discipline: Photography OPEN TO ALL On-site Housing Available

The first language we speak is the visual. Our eyes are in constant dialogue with the present. With photography, we speak with the past. What a portrait, that frozen moment in a person’s journey, tells us about its subject’s story is as subjective as each of us. Through the application of philosophy, practice, and technique, the photographer can better speak to a subject’s story, making compelling images to draw the viewer in, to pique curiosity, to engender learning what that subject had to say. The vitality of portraiture is its ability to preserve the story each of us tells. This workshop will encourage and hone your skill at telling the story of the storyteller.

As part of your materials fee, you will be given ten sheets of photo paper for making prints. Additional sheets may be purchased from the Work Center for $1 per sheet.
