2024 Summer Workshops

Monica Youn The Poet’s Toolkit July 28 to August 2, 2019 Tuition: $650 Workshop: 9am-12pm Discipline: Poetry INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCED On-site Housing Available

This workshop is part of our Poetry Festival.

This is an intermediate level workshop designed to push poets out of their “comfort zones” – to disrupt default modes and ingrained habits. Students will engage in structured discussion of each others poems in an effort to hone each participant’s analytic tools in reading and discussing individual poems from a craft perspective. Each class will also focus on a particular category of craft – for example, sonics, lineation, syntax, or revision. We will read short handouts and engage in in-class exercises geared to these craft topics.

Please submit 5 poems, of no more than 2 pages each, to Dawn Walsh at dwalsh@fawc.org by July 21.
