FELLOWSHIPS

Fellowships at the Fine Arts Work Center offer a unique seven-month residency for emerging writers and visual artists in the crucial early stages of their careers.

The Fine Arts Work Center’s Fellowship Program is a leading long-term residency program in the country. Open to applicants from around the world, the Work Center provides Fellowships to ten visual artists and ten writers each year in the form of living/work space and a modest monthly stipend. Fellows have the opportunity to pursue their work independently in a diverse and supportive community of peers while living and working in Provincetown from October 1 through April 30. Since the Work Center’s founding, more than 800 Fellowships have been awarded. Fellows have made an enormous impact on American arts and letters, going on to win virtually every major national award in their respective fields, including the Pulitzer, MacArthur, Whiting, Pollock-Krasner, Tiffany, Prix de Rome, Guggenheim, NEA, and National Book Award.  learn more

SUMMER PROGRAM

The Summer Workshop Program at the Fine Arts Work Center is designed to inspire students’ creative imagination and provide the resources they need to hone their skills.

Members of the program’s award-winning faculty are among the most respected and renowned artists and writers working today. They mentor workshop participants to help them develop their craft, offering guidance and encouragement as they take those important leaps toward realizing their potential. Visual arts studios and the writing lab are open around the clock – available whenever the mood or muse visits. Students, staff and faculty form a supportive and inspiring community, and the combination of creative writers and visual artists paves the way for cross-genre dialogue and collaboration. The Fine Arts Work Center offers nearly 80 different classes over its 11-week summer schedule.

24PEARLSTREET

Building on the Fine Arts Work Center’s tradition of creative excellence and community, 24PearlStreet offers an engaging online learning experience led by nationally recognized poets and writers that lets students focus on their work wherever they are, whenever they want.

With classes offered in poetry, fiction and nonfiction on three levels, writers can focus on doing their best work under the guidance of exceptional faculty – no matter where they are, no matter what their schedule may be. Emphasizing the writing part of the online writing experience, 24PearlStreet offers a simple and engaging online space where participants can focus on their teacher, their classmates and their work. The online program offers a range of eight-week studios, four-week workshops and one-week intensives from fall through spring.  learn more
