2024 Summer Workshops

Beowulf Sheehan Seeing You: Storytelling, Storyteller & Photographic Portraiture June 21 to June 25, 2021 Tuition: $550 Workshop: 10am-12pm EST Discipline: Photography OPEN TO ALL On-site Housing Available

The first language we speak is the visual. Our eyes are in constant dialogue with our environments. With photography, we engage and preserve our environments, the resultant photographs becoming our histories. In portraiture, those photographs shape how we see the stories of others. What a portrait, that frozen moment in a person’s journey, tells us about its subject’s story is as subjective as each of us. Through the application of philosophy, practice, and technique, the photographer can better speak to a subject’s story, make compelling images to draw the viewer in, pique curiosity, engender learning what that subject has to say. The tools of photography and photographic portraiture are changing rapidly. While those tools are important and will be explored in detail, the goal of this workshop is to encourage and hone your skill at telling the story of your subject, the storyteller.
